Start playing Chapter One

Choose Play tutorial for three short lessons, or Join Frontier to equip for the community's unlocked frontier and join the current fight. If the war has not advanced yet, Join Frontier starts the same tutorial. Greyfen is the only permanent safe town.

  1. Practise two sword hits and two mace hits at the training yard, then speak to Captain Rusk.
  2. Inspect the west-fork wagon and defeat two wolves. Wolves remain available as a permanent practice encounter even after the front advances.
  3. Learn the supply loop: gather at the gold ! marker, time a strike, then press C to refine your materials wherever you are.

The war loop is fight → capture → gather → craft → push forward → defend. Capture notifications and the tracked next step also teach this if you skip the tutorial.

Your first capture

Take the north road to Reedwatch Crossing. Clear its defenders, approach the signal brazier, look at it and hold G for six seconds. Reedwatch needs no supply pack or crafting material. Stay still and avoid damage until it completes.

The green territory boundary advances and a capture banner tells you what to do next: gather Reedwatch heartwood at the gold ! marker. Every attempt is a timing circle. Press Space, click the circle or use controller A while the moving pointer crosses the bright arc. A miss gives no material. You can immediately try again, or keep gathering after a success; there is no resource cooldown.

Press C anywhere and choose Saw timber. A successful crafting strike spends heartwood and makes planks; a miss keeps the ingredients. Carry two timber planks before fighting at Ironroot Quarry. Ironroot still requires those planks after you clear its defenders. Later holdings require their own listed supplies.

Controls you will use most

Action Control
Move / sprint / jump WASD / Shift / Space
Attack / bow draw Left mouse; hold and release to draw a normal arrow
Block / cancel Volley aiming Right mouse
Weapons 1–4 or mouse wheel
Weapon-specific abilities Q / E / R
Aim Fan Volley Bow: hold R, release to fire the previewed three-arrow spread

Craft in the field C
Map, equipment, party and quests M; J opens the same menu's Quests tab

Choose Show on map or follow the gold objective bearing to find an active objective. Crafting steps have a Craft now button because you do not need to travel to a workshop.

Join friends quickly

Use M → Party to invite a companion or join an open group. Shared victories raise the equipment baseline; new arrivals receive field gear for the unlocked frontier instead of grinding old levels. More nearby participants strengthen the encounter, while players idle in town do not. Solo completion is intended to be demanding but possible; group balance remains under playtest.

Enemy columns can march back and reclaim your holdings. Watch the alerts, intercept a raid or defend its beacon. A lost link cuts off the front until you retake it. The boundary shows connected control, not a permanent safe zone.

A taste of the full game

Chapter One keeps combat, the three tutorial lessons, basic parties, gathering, supply crafting and territory advancement. New custom equipment, repairs, banking, long quest lines and deeper character progression are disabled here and retained for the future MMO. Equipment does not wear out. Existing bank belongings remain retrievable and saved progress stays intact.

The full-game membership price is only a proposal; purchasing is not available. See the current roadmap.

Xbox controller

Connect a standard Xbox controller and press a button while the game page is focused. The hotbar and interaction prompts change to controller buttons. A disconnected controller releases held actions.

The controller uses the same server-authoritative actions as keyboard and mouse. Browser-level pairing and permission prompts remain system controls. Automated input and browser journeys are checked during releases; physical Xbox hardware and browser combinations require a hands-on playtest before certification.
